Wuthering Waves has officially announced the arrival of two anticipated characters — Augusta and Iuno — in the upcoming version 2.6 update, which is tentatively set to release on August 28, 2025. These new 5-star resonators will be the next addition to the game’s roster following the release of Phrolova in version 2.5.

Kuro Games confirmed the debut of Augusta and Iuno through drip marketing on social media earlier this week. Augusta, a notable figure from Septimont, will be introduced as a 5-star Electro element character wielding a Broadblade. Iuno, a revered priestess and advisor, will join as a 5-star Aero user with Gauntlet. According to the sequence of marketing announcements, Augusta is likely to appear in the first phase of Version 2.6, while Iuno will debut in the second.

Both characters were first introduced in the main storyline of Version 2.4 and later appeared more prominently in the new Overture quests in Version 2.5. These missions allowed players to delve deeper into Augusta's leadership role in Septimont and her alliance with Iuno. Their in-game debut has been eagerly anticipated by fans, many of whom hoped to see them in Version 2.5 alongside Phrolova.

Version 2.5, which highlighted Phrolova's story and brought back events like Dreaming Deep, also expanded the game's lore through new main quests. Meanwhile, the absence of new 4-star characters has raised concerns within the community. Since December 2024, no new 4-star heroes have been added, and there are currently no indications that version 2.6 will change this trend.
Some players have also expressed concerns about character balance and synergy. Specifically, Phrolova's playstyle has been criticized for its heavy reliance on specific compositions, particularly her interactions with Cantarella.

Despite these remarks, Wuthering Waves maintains a reputation as a game that pays close attention to community feedback and responds swiftly. As players eagerly await Version 2.6, they can try to obtain Phrolova and Roccia in the current banners or prepare for the rerun banner featuring Brant and Cantarella in the second phase of 2.5.
Amid the potential return to the city-state of Septimont, Version 2.6 is likely to continue the storyline introduced in the Dreamcatchers in the Secret Gardens quest. As a new threat looms over the region, the upcoming patch promises to deliver significant plot developments along with new characters.
