Today English language analyst and commentator Thorin told about the level of English of Natus Vincere sniper Alexndr "s1mple" Kostylev.
He stated that s1mple sometimes turns on the "let's mi spik from mai hart" mode and has problems with English:
I've been communicating with s1mple. Sometimes he doesn't understand what you're saying to him, but he can't ask you back every time either. So during the interview, he doesn't answer the question, he says what he thinks he needs to say and maybe gets on topic. And because he chooses what to say, he sounds as if he really knows the language well. In reality, it's not that great.
He himself admits without too much modesty - as if he could ever be modest - that he's not that good at English. He understands something, he says something, but he can't fully communicate in the language.
But here you can understand s1mple, because it's not his native language, but Thorin is British and he talks non-stop. Of course, there will be problems with understanding by ear, because translating his words from the video is not the easiest thing either.

Why is it important?
We all already know that after the global reshuffle in the last transfer window, the NAVI team received players who do not speak Ukrainian and the squad completely switched to English language communication.
Also YNK reacted to the transition to English by the NAVI team:
Let's say NAVI can't take Russian players. But there are a lot of talented players in their own region, they could build a roster and communicate in Ukrainian/Russian. Many people underestimate the importance of communication. I know this from my work in MIBR and in FaZe.
Aleksib, jL and iM - understandable, because they have experience playing in such lineups. But s1mple hasn't communicated in English for a long time, and B1T can't answer trivial questions, it will take up to half a year to learn the language.
