Today from the official Twitter of the organizers of Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2024 it became known that the championship playoffs will be played on the latest version of Counter-Strike 2.
According to the organizers, they conducted a survey among the teams that made it to the main stage of the championship.
This decision was made after thorough consultation with the playoff teams, as well as internal discussions and tests conducted.
Special attention was paid to feedback from teams against the backdrop of the upcoming RMR tournaments PGL Major Copenhagen, which starts next week.
The CS 2 update brought a lot of changes to the mechanics of the game, especially affecting aspects such as networking, movement, shooting and the advantage of looking out. These points have been the subject of debate among professionals and the gaming community on many occasions. Overall, the update has been well received by players since its release on Tuesday.
In addition, smoke grenades have been updated, which are now able to create and block shadows. However, the introduction of additional improvements in animation and display led to new bugs.
Most importantly, the developers have reduced the advantage of the beeper, which was used by almost all players in CS2, but now it is almost non-existent.
With the start of RMR next week, we gathered feedback from teams in the #IEM Katowice 2024 playoff stage about the latest update. After internal tests and patch discussions, we decided that the playoff stage will be held on the latest update.
