An important event took place at the IEM Rio 2024 tournament - The MongolZ defeated Eternal Fire 2-1 in the decisive Group B match and made it to the bottom bracket final. The Turkish team Eternal Fire is forced to leave the competition, ending their participation in this year's tournament.
The MongolZ's winning streak
In the first map on Anubis, the Mongolian team demonstrated a powerful game, destroying the opponent with a score of 13-2. The biggest contribution to the victory was made by senzu, who was deservedly recognized as the MVP of the match. His 58 kills and 29 deaths were decisive for the team. The second most important player was mzinho, who also showed a high level, finishing the map with a rating of 7.3.
Despite the defeat on the second map Mirage (8-13), The MongolZ did not lose their enthusiasm and returned to the game on Inferno, ending the match with a 13-4 victory. This allowed them to take a place in the lower bracket final.
Eternal Fire stops participating in the tournament
The tournament was a serious test for the Turkish team, but unfortunately, they were unable to continue their journey after this defeat. Despite the high level of play of such players as Calyx and woxic, the team was unable to find the key to victory at crucial moments of the game. XANTARES, finished the match with a total of 30 kills, but it was not enough to bring the team victory.
The MongolZ vs. Virtus.pro - a decisive match for the playoffs
The next challenge for The MongolZ will be a match against Virtus.pro, which will determine the finalist of the lower bracket, who will get a chance to continue the fight in the playoffs. At this stage,Virtus.pro has already defeated Astralis with a score of 2-0, so the meeting with The MongolZ promises to be tense and decisive.
IEM Rio 2024 prize pool
The total prize pool of the tournament is $250,000, of which the winner will receive $100,000 and qualification for IEM Katowice 2025. The loss of Eternal Fire leaves them without further prospects at the tournament, but they will be able to learn important lessons from this experience for future competitions.
