The first details of patch 7.02 have become known – the Valorant World Championship will take place on it in 2023

Dataminers found references in the game files to the upcoming patch 7.02, which is timed to coincide with the Valorant Champion 2023 World Championship. They demonstrated how various maps in the game will be modified and what subtle details will appear in honor of the main event in the discipline.

Developers from Riot Games have always been known for their creative approach to different events. When hosting major tournaments, most of the maps in Valorant partially change their design and this year's Valorant Champions 2023 World Championship was no exception.

Main Menu

The most noticeable change is, of course, the splash screen in the main menu. To date, the startup screen in the main menu remains after patch 7.0, which is timed to coincide with the release of the new hero Deadlock. In a short video, she fights against mysterious monsters using her game skills.

After the release of patch 7.02, a video related to the upcoming Valorant Champions 2023 will be broadcast on the main screen. In it, as often happens in videos from Riot Games, there will be a combined style of animation and real image. The trailer features an image of the Kia Forum arena near Los Angeles, where the main matches of the upcoming World Championship will be held. The video also shows a Valorant player sitting at a computer desk in animated style, with one of the game's characters, Gekko, exchanging fire next to him. In this way, the developers draw a parallel with how professional players feel during matches.

Map Details

Many players note that almost every major event changes the design of its maps, as we mentioned earlier. The upcoming Valorant Champions 2023 is the largest event in the discipline, so naturally, most maps will receive many new details.

Split

The Split map will undergo the most changes, with the assortment and decoration of the store located on the defender's spawn being altered. It currently looks as usual, but with the addition of Chinese characters, in honor of the official release of the game in China, which we wrote about in our article.

Game Client Update

According to well-known insider ValorLeaks, with patch 7.02, a separate tab called EsportsHub will be added to the game client, where you can track events in Valorant. It will contain both a schedule for viewing future games and events with indicators showing whether a match is live.

And this is how EsportsHub mentions look in the game's code, according to German dataminer kohteihep.

It is still unknown when patch 7.02 will be released, but since it is dedicated to Valorant Champions 2023, it can be assumed that the update will see the light of day in early August. We remind you that Valorant Champions 2023 will take place from August 6 to 26, 2023 in Los Angeles. 16 of the strongest teams from around the world will take part in the tournament, competing for a large prize fund and the world champion title.
