On September 17, Danish organization Astralis made the surprise announcement of signing Casper “cadiaN” Møller. This decision not only reunited cadiaN with his former HEROIC teammates Martin “stavn” Lund and Jakob “jabbi” Nygaard, but also gave a new impetus to the team after parting ways with the captain at the end of 2023. CadiaN took over as captain, ousting Nicolai “device” Reedtz, and is now tasked with bringing Astralis back to the top of the world stage.
This signing sparked a huge amount of interest, as cadiaN was set to make his debut at BLAST Premier: Fall Final despite missing the official submission deadline. Questions have arisen: how did the Danish team manage to bypass the strict rules, and why was cadiaN's participation approved?
Transition details and points of contention
According to BLAST Premier rules, teams must submit lineups at least three weeks before the tournament, which meant the deadline for the Fall Finals was September 4 - nearly two weeks before cadiaN signed with Astralis. Nevertheless, the Danish organization was able to get permission for cadiaN to participate thanks to an emergency application related to a “medical incident.”
As we represent @br0CSGO teams have reached out to me, regarding his health or medical condition, he is fully fine, obviously unfortunate he got benched. Nevertheless, Alex is fully healthy and ready to perform. So feel free to keep reaching out

However, suspicion has been aroused among other players in the tournament. The agent of the br0 player, Fabian Broich, publicly stated that his client was not experiencing any health issues, which called into question the validity of the substitution. Despite this, BLAST approved the substitution, citing data provided by Astralis, but declined to disclose details, citing confidentiality.
The official position of Astralis and BLAST
BLAST commented on HLTV's request, saying that the replacement was approved based on information provided by the team and that the decision was in line with established guidelines: “Due to respect and confidentiality, we are unfortunately unable to provide any further information.” Astralis also commented, emphasizing that “theemergency replacement procedures established by BLAST were followed”, but declined to disclose further details.
Despite this, representatives of the other three teams competing in the Fall Finals expressed doubts about the legality of Astralis' actions and the transparency of the process. The tournament organizer stressed that the Danish team will be penalized by the ranking in all matches of the finals, but this did not reduce the tension among the participants. BLAST has already faced criticism in the past for questionable decisions on emergency substitutions, which has increased distrust from the professional community.
Final thoughts
The replacement for cadiaN remains a point of contention, and his participation in the Fall Finals could have a major impact on the tournament and subsequent invitations to the 2025 events. If Astralis manage to put in a strong performance, it will strengthen their position in the regional rankings. Their first match against Vitality will be an important test for the renewed squad.
