TenZ: "I don’t like Valorant; this was the main reason for ending my career"

Former professional player and fan favorite Tyson "TenZ" Ngo, now a streamer for Sentinels, has revealed the main reason behind his decision to retire from competitive Valorant.

During one of his streams, TenZ responded to a viewer's question and shared why he decided to end his professional career in 2024. After the conclusion of the season, the Valorant Champions 2024 tournament marked his final competition, where he and Sentinels secured 4th place. Currently, he serves as a content creator for the organization, livestreaming Valorant and other games.

TenZ explained that he no longer enjoys Valorant. He cited the growing presence of randomness in the game as a significant reason, saying that it feels more like a hero shooter such as Overwatch rather than a tactical game like Counter-Strike. However, he clarified that he doesn’t hate the game; it simply stopped providing the level of enjoyment needed to continue his professional career.

TenZ's words are rooted in the evolution of Valorant. Since its official release, the game has undergone significant changes, particularly with its agents. The number of agents has more than doubled, and their abilities now play a critical role in determining match outcomes. Riot Games continues to adjust this balance, attempting to reduce the impact and frequency of agent abilities, but no drastic changes have been made yet. The video above illustrates the chaos these abilities can create.
