Team Vitality has topped the European CS:GO team rankings by Valve

Valve Corporation has released updated CS:GO team rankings for each region. The European top is led by Team Vitality.

Dan "apEX" Madescler's team surpassed the ENCE club, which had topped the European rankings for the past two weeks. The top spot in the American rankings was taken by the Argentine organization BESTIA. The team of Nicolas "Noktse" Davila overtook six opponents at once. In the Asian region, the leader remained unchanged - Lynn Vision.

What is the purpose of Valve's ranking?

Valve's ranking was announced following changes in the rules for regional RMR competitions. Instead of automatic invitations to closed qualifiers, participants will be selected based on their position in the top. Teams that don't get invites will have to go through open qualifiers.

This decision is because CS:GO majors only happen twice a year, and teams that became "legends" in the previous championship might not be worthy of a direct invitation to the next RMR tournament. Now, to get a chance to participate in RMR, teams need to successfully go through closed qualifiers.

How is the regional ranking formed?

Valve continues to keep the algorithm for forming the CS:GO team ranking a secret. However, a company representative spoke about the factors influencing the team's position in the top:

  • Prize money earned by the team;
  • Prize money earned by opponents the team has beaten and the number of teams defeated;
  • Head-to-head encounters.
