There have been long-standing jokes and conversations about EG, saying they can't put together a good lineup, with their last major victory being 3 years ago. As funny as it may sound, the joke seems to have gotten out of hand.
Despite the fact that the American organization Evil Geniuses completely changed their lineup this summer, only one player remains from the old roster:
The team had significant difficulties in their first tournament - BLAST Premier: Fall Groups 2023. At this point, the guys are on the verge of being knocked out of the tournament after losing two matches in the group and falling into the Play-in bracket, where either Ninjas in Pyjamas or Complexity will join them.
2023 in Numbers
In total, the team has already managed to play 60 maps in official matches. The win rate per map was 30%. However, if we translate this into matches, the number of matches played is 35, with a measly win rate of 17.5%!
In 2023, the North American team played in 14 tournaments, and as you would expect, the win rate was 0%. It's also worth noting that the team has never managed to rank higher than 5-8.
Here are some of the latest tournaments for the team:
- Intel Extreme Masters Dallas 2023 (13-16 place)
- ESEA Cash Cup Circuit 2023: North American Cup #7 (5-8 place)
- Gamers Without Borders North America 2023 (5-8 place)
- CCT West Europe Season 3 (5-8 place)
- CCT Central Europe Season 6 (9-16 place)
Their next match, and probably the last one at BLAST Premier: Fall Groups 2023, will be on July 22 at 16:00 against the loser of the Complexity/NiP pair.
However, the team's next tournament will be ESL Pro League Season 18. They got in, as always, by invitation, as they are partners with almost all tournament operators.
