STYKO on His New Experience as an Expert at BLAST Premier

Role changes always draw attention, especially when a professional player finds themselves on the other side of the screen. STYKO, replacing Maniac at the BLAST Premier Fall Final 2024, made his debut as an expert.

This moment was intriguing not only for the audience but also for STYKO himself, who admitted that the new experience gave him as much to ponder as playing on the professional scene.

Background and History

At the BLAST Premier Fall Final 2024, STYKO joined Pimp and Freya on-air when their regular colleague Maniac was unable to attend due to a scandal involving his name. For the first time, STYKO found himself in front of the camera as an analyst rather than a player, presenting a significant challenge for him. During the break between the maps of the semifinal between NAVI and FaZeDust2.dk discussed his new feelings about this role.

New Challenge and Old Habits

STYKO noted that working in front of the camera is much less stressful than performing on the server, but it still requires certain skills, especially when explaining strategies and team actions clearly to viewers not always familiar with the game. He conducted match analysis standing right in front of the players, which added extra responsibility and reminded him of his past as a professional player.

"When you were a player, criticism is part of your job. I always try to rely on facts and statistics, and when someone underperforms, we just try to understand why it happened," STYKO explained. On his first day, he didn't hesitate to criticize Snappi and his team Falcons for a weak performance against NAVI.

New Challenges and Future Plans

Despite the stability of the expert role, STYKO admitted that it cannot replace his passion for competition. The past year has been challenging for him, with occasional benching periods in APEKS and later Monte. However, his drive to return to active play remains strong.

"It does not satisfy my thirst for competition," said STYKO, adding that he is looking for a team to continue his career in 2025 after the upcoming major in Shanghai.
