Spirit advances to finals after tense victory over Astralis

The team Spirit secured second place in the grand final of the BLAST Premier: World Final 2024 after a tense battle with Astralis, ending with a score of 2-1. Spirit showed good performance on their map and on the decisive Ancient, but fell short to the Danes on Vertigo.

Danil "donk" Kryshkovets noted after the match in an interview with James "BanKs" Banks: "It's a good map, but we weren't ready this time. It happens, and it's okay."

Battle on Dust2, downfall on Vertigo, and dominance on Ancient

The series began on Dust2, Spirit's choice, where they quickly took the lead 6-1, thanks to Dmitry "sh1ro" Sokolov's success in several 1v1 duels against Nicolai "device" Reedtz. However, the Danes adapted and managed to narrow the gap by successfully attacking the B site, ending the first half with a minimal lag. After switching sides, Spirit confidently claimed six consecutive rounds and finished Dust2 with a score of 13-5, moving the match to Vertigo.

Astralis chose Vertigo to exploit Spirit's weaknesses, and their plan worked. The Danish team dominated the map, crushing Spirit with a score of 13-3, setting the stage for the decisive Ancient map.

On Ancient, Spirit again displayed confident gameplay, starting with a victory in the second round and gaining a 9-3 lead, finishing the map with a convincing 13-5 score. This victory secured them a spot in the grand final in Singapore.

Final showdown against G2

The victory over Astralis paves the way for Spirit to their fourth title this season, as they face G2 in the final. Now Spirit must prove their strength in the decisive match against one of the tournament's toughest opponents.
