Today, British rifler Owen "smooya" Butterfield criticized the Faceit Pro League on his official Twitter page and announced the launch of his own hub on FACEIT. According to him, the prize pool of the hub is expected to be $10,000 monthly.
The British player mentioned that there would be monthly prizes and invitations would be extended to players with a certain high ELO. Moreover, the first list of invites to the hub will be available very soon.
smooya's main criticism of FPL was that the league has declined and is not what it used to be. It all started with a harmless tweet where smooya simply asked the community's opinion about creating a new hub for Counter-Strike 2.
"I'm also thinking about creating a hub like FPL-C, as FPL is currently unpopular. All players above a certain ELO level will be invited, with monthly prizes, etc. What are your thoughts on this?"
After many professional and semi-professional players supported the idea, smooya shared some details about the project.
According to smooya, his hub will be launched at the end of January 2024. He has already started creating a list of players who will receive instant invitations as soon as the hub is created.
Regarding the prize pool of the hub, smooya said:
"I'm aiming for a prize pool of $10,000. You'll have the option to choose between real money or skins depending on your situation, as I know there are problems in some countries. I'm finalizing the selection of serious administrators to oversee everything, then the first invitations will be sent as soon as possible."
In fact, this is a great alternative for top-ranked players. FPL and FPLc have long ceased to be leagues where anyone tries hard. Most players who have a slot there play for fun, sometimes not allowing young talents to emerge.
