Mega Crit, the developer of the well-known roguelike deck-building game Slay the Spire, has presented a new gameplay trailer for the sequel — Slay the Spire 2. The game is set to appear in Steam Early Access in 2025, although the exact release date has not been announced yet.
The announcement of Slay the Spire 2 took place during the Triple-I Initiative show back in April 2024. The event was accompanied by a cinematic trailer, which reintroduced familiar characters such as Ironclad and Silent, and also unveiled a new hero — Necrobinder, a wandering lich seeking to conquer forgotten dead bodies.
Slay the Spire 2 promises to expand the mechanics of the original game with new heroes, enemies, events, and treasures. The game is being developed on the Godot engine, as Mega Crit decided to move away from Unity due to licensing changes.
The developers express their gratitude and commitment to involving the community in the game's creation process, noting that the success of the original game largely depended on player feedback. They plan to use Early Access to gather insights for balancing and refining features.
While the exact release date remains unknown, fans can expect more information as the launch of Early Access in 2025 approaches. Meanwhile, the original Slay the Spire remains available on various platforms, including PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, iOS, and Android.
