Skyesports has provided a statement to Dust2 India regarding payments made to players under Skyesports Masters 2023 contracts. In the statement, Skyesports confirmed that the entire minimum guarantee amount has been paid to the respective organizations either in cash or through sponsorship agreements. All organizations that have fulfilled their contractual obligations have been paid in full by March 4.
Skyesports contends that the amount paid was significantly higher than the total stipend and a portion of the prize fund, which is in accordance with the agreed terms. Specifically, with respect to the 7SEA organization, Skyesports stated that payment was made through March 4, 2024, but due to difficulties with the bank account, the transaction was reversed. The banking issues have now been resolved and 7SEA will receive payment until July 15, 2024.
Dust2 India has also tried to reach out to the rest of the organizations that are yet to pay the prize money to their players. Medal Esports and Marcos Gaming declined to comment, while no responses were received from Gods Reign and Revenant.
Dust2 India sources said that these organizations have set a deadline to pay their players and have already started processing the necessary payments.
The next tournament from Skyesports will be Skyesports Championship 2024, which will feature 10 invited teams and 2 teams that have qualified regionally in India and Europe. The tournament has a prize pool of $300,000. The tournament will start on July 23 and will last till July 29.
