Skin prices are dropping, and the Armory Pass is losing its appeal

The recently launched Armory Pass system allowed players to obtain hundreds of new skins for only $16 by simply playing the game. However, as these skins began to appear on the Steam market, the value of purchasing the pass became questionable. Is it worth investing in the Armory Pass when the market is saturated?

Interest in the situation grows as the Steam system always adapts to supply and demand, meaning skin prices don't remain stable. This leads to questioning whether it truly makes sense to purchase the Armory Pass or if it's better to wait for skin prices to drop and buy them at a better rate on the market.

Rapid Price Drop on the Market

Since the release of Armory and the Armory Pass system, players have started mass earning skins from new collections. Despite the seven-day restriction on selling items on Steam, the mass appearance of skins was only a matter of time. For instance, on October 10, the Desert Eagle | Heat Treated (Minimal Wear) skin was selling for $25-50, but the next day, the market was flooded with hundreds of these skins, crashing the price to $5.36. It later slightly recovered to around $7.

Skin prices vary depending on rarity and surface quality. Rare and high-quality skins, such as the AWP | CMYK, still sell at high prices, but the chances of obtaining such a skin through the Armory Pass are very low. For most players, especially those hoping for cheap skins, the overall benefit of buying the pass proves to be dubious.

Is the Armory Pass Worth It?

Over time, more skins will enter the market, and their prices will continue to decline. This could lead to the Armory Pass being used only by those seeking fortunate combos. While some players might enjoy the thrill of trying to score rare items, for those just wanting a few skins, it may be wiser to wait until they appear en masse on the market at reduced prices.

The Market Dictates the Conditions

Although the concept of the Armory Pass may continue to attract players in the future, the market shows that it's often more advantageous not to rush purchases. The drop in skin prices makes buying the pass unjustifiable for most users, especially those who just want to acquire the desired item at a favorable price, rather than spending on not always warranted risk.
