SAW Head Coach, Danny “BERRY” Krüger on a podcast on the SAW YouTube channel had an insightful conversation about the team's progress. BERRY noted significant improvements in communication since he joined the team. Initially, the language barrier was an issue as most players were used to speaking Portuguese. However, over time, everyone adapted and English became the main language of communication.
BERRY emphasized that improving communication was critical. He observed that the players made a significant effort to communicate in English even during informal conversations. This commitment helped simplify their strategies and fostered a more cohesive approach to the game.
BERRY talked about integrating his strategies into the team's gameplay. He was initially brought in as an interim coach, but now his methods have been fully adopted by the team. He mentioned that the team's progress is evident both in training and in actual matches. Although there is still room to grow, BERRY is optimistic about their trajectory.
He recognized that the team has shown glimpses of brilliance, especially in matches against top teams like FaZe. However, more experience and regular competition against strong opponents are needed to maintain this level of play.
Looking ahead to IEM Cologne, BERRY expressed cautious optimism. He believes that the team has a good chance of qualifying for the main tournament, provided they maintain their current form and adapt quickly to the competition. BERRY also noted that in addition to talent and preparation, luck may play a role. Regardless, his main goal is for the team to show its potential and prove that it can compete with the best.
The closest tournament after the start of the season for them was CCT Season 2 Europe Series 6, where they had already managed to play one game against BC.Game as part of the tournament playoffs. Their road to the playoffs will continue today and they will play against Passion UA.
