A new version of CS is almost here.
Insiders report that open testing of the new version of Counter-Strike can begin as early as next month.
Journalist Richard Lewis reported that Counter-Strike 2 exists, and its testing has already begun, and open testing will be available next month. So what else did the journalist talk about?
Source 2 almost arrived
Richard Lewis said that developing a new version of Counter-Strike 2 is at the final stage, and testing has already begun. Also, according to Lewis, Valve has already taken professional players to its office in Seattle for secret tests of the new version of the game. At the same time, the project itself, according to Lewis, will not be just an update for the main client but a different game, which will be called Counter-Strike 2.
The journalist is confident in the new name, but it may just be a working code title that will be changed during the release.
What awaits us in the new version of the game?
In addition to the transition to the new Source 2 engine, which will improve optimization, the graphic component and simplify the creation of new content for the game, such as maps, skins, and new modes, the game is also waiting for other changes.
According to insider information, the matchmaking system will be greatly improved, thanks to which the need for platforms like FACEIT and ESEA will disappear. Now there will be no huge gap in the ranks of players in one match, as well as the strange work of the rating system, in which you could be demoted after a victory.
In addition, Richard Lewis mentioned that with the new version of CS, there would be servers with a tick rate of 128, which players have been waiting for so long. They may not appear immediately, but they are clearly being tested.
What else indicates the imminent release of Counter-Strike 2?
Let's start with the fact that two new .exe file names appeared in the NVIDIA driver control panel a few days ago - csgo2 and csgos2. This was the first confirmation that the new game was already being tested because the NVIDIA database recorded it on one of the computers.
In addition, the main argument in favor of completing the development of the new game is the almost complete absence of updates in CS:GO over the past six months. Valve even delayed the release of a new case and the removal of stickers from the Major. All this indicates that the main forces of the developers have been redirected to the new project.
What will happen in Counter-Strike 2? We will find out very soon.
