The logo of the new trademark is present in the cap.
The anomalous activity was recorded in the CS:GO Twitter account.
The cap of the official CS:GO Twitter account has been updated four times overnight. First, a trademark logo appeared under the name Counter-Strike, which Valve registered not so long ago. After that, only the logo remained on the cap, and then it was repainted orange. Finally, in the interval between the removal, the phrase appeared in the cap: "Can't we? It's just a banner." What could this mean?
Rebranding is coming
There have long been rumors about the rebranding of CS:GO, along with the transition to a new engine. This was discussed by many dataminers who examined game files and trademarks registered by Valve. And among the brands, there was a new Counter-Strike, which may indicate both the release of a new project and the rebranding of the current one.
And this can happen with the transfer of the game to a new engine, which everyone has been talking about for several years.
What can change with rebranding?
The main thing that the dataminers mentioned is the change of the named parties. Now the game features terrorists and special forces, which strongly repels sponsors and negatively affects esports. This is the reason why, for example, in Rainbow Six, the sides are called Attack and Defense, and in VALORANT, the bomb has been replaced by Spike.
The rebranding will greatly improve the position of CS in the information field, attract sponsors and further develop esports.
Of course, we should also expect a name change and a bunch of other minor changes, but the main thing is that CS:GO will become more relevant in the info field.
When to expect rebranding?
When we talk about Valve's terms, it is very difficult to speculate. Dataminers spoke about the release of Source 2 back in 2021, but it is still not there. But taking into account the fact that the activity of CS:GO developers both on test servers and in social networks indicates that rebranding is close. The next deadline is BLAST.tv Paris Major.
