Team paiN won the IEM Rio South American Closed Qualifier and earned a spot at the prestigious tournament, which will be held from October 7-13. This success was made possible by the great play and resilience of the team led by Rodrigo “biguzera” Bittencourt.
Before reaching the grand finals, paiN started with a tough win over the RED Canids team led by the legendary Marcelo “coldzera”, which allowed them to advance to the semifinals against Imperial. The semifinal match was very tense and ended in overtime on the Inferno map, but paiN managed to come out victorious, sending Imperial to the lower grid of the tournament where they defeated MIBR and advanced to the grand finals.
The final encounter took place on the Inferno map, where paiN won with a score of 13:8 thanks to the outstanding play of Lucas “lux” Meneghini. On the second map Anubis the team was led to victory by Lucas “nqz” Soares and João “snowzin” Vinicius, securing the final score 2:0 in favor of paiN. This success secured paiN's position in the IEM Rio tournament.
At the moment the list of teams participating in IEM Rio includes such famous teams as Natus Vincere, MOUZ, Vitality, G2, FaZe, Virtus.pro and others. The fight for the remaining four spots is expected to be intense: one spot each will be played in the closed qualifiers in Asia and North America, and two in Europe.
paiN's success in the qualifying tournament was made possible by excellent team play and tactical skill. This victory not only inspires the team, but also raises interest in the upcoming tournament, where paiN will compete in their home arena against the strongest teams in the world for a prize pool of $250,000.
