Officially: FACEIT introduces account verification using passport

FACEIT introduced a new system for verifying the authenticity of accounts called FACEIT ID. Now gamers can undergo account verification by uploading a selfie and a document proving their identity, such as a passport or driver's license. After passing the verification process, players will receive a mark on their profile indicating successful verification.

FACEIT ID is an optional and free feature, but players suspected of violating the rules will have to use it. Additionally, in the future, this feature will be mandatory for participating in official competitions held on the platform, including open qualifications for tournaments.

FACEIT has announced that account verification through the new authentication system is not currently available for players under 18 years old. Furthermore, users who do not wish to provide their personal documents will be able to use an alternative method of profile confirmation that will be added to the platform in the near future. This method is based on multi-factor personality verification.

FACEIT has introduced the new verification system FACEIT ID to combat fraud and boosters using smurf accounts. Previous user verification methods were found to be ineffective or could restrict honest players. FACEIT believes that the introduction of FACEIT ID is the first step in improving the platform, which will include improving the player matching system, Elo and rankings, and other FACEIT elements. However, players under 18 years old and those who do not wish to provide their documents cannot currently use the new verification system and will have alternative methods of verification available to them.
