Developers continue to improve CS 2 by fixing various bugs and adding new content. On the night of December 18-19, a new patch was released, introducing autograph capsules of the last Major’s champions along with other changes.
Key Additions
Although the patch includes numerous updates, it cannot be called a major overhaul. Notable additions from Valve include:
Team Spirit Autograph Capsules
As is tradition, Valve continues to honor Major tournament champions in the game. A few days ago, the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 concluded, with Team Spirit emerging as the winners. To commemorate their victory, developers added autograph capsules featuring the champion team’s players. Notably, 50% of capsule sales revenue will go to the organization.
Improved Weapon Inspection Animation
The update also brings enhanced weapon inspection animations. You can check out how it looks in the game below.

New Console Commands
Added server settings controlling which items drop on the ground during warmup period:
mp_warmup_items_drop_policy
mp_warmup_items_nocost
mp_warmup_items_nocount_policy
These commands manage item drops during warm-up. Additionally, specific configurations like mp_warmup_items_drop_policy 0
, mp_warmup_items_nocost 1
, and mp_warmup_items_nocount_policy 251
are designed for custom servers to restrict weapon drops during setup.
New Service Medal
Valve announced the addition of a brand-new Service Medal for 2025, which will be available to players starting January 1, 2025.
Other Changes
In addition to the main features, the update includes numerous smaller improvements:
- Adjusted the threshold for marking an attacker as "blinded" in kill notifications.
- Explosions now more reliably scatter weapons, even if multiple weapons overlap.
- Weapons will no longer drop to the ground during team changes in warm-up.
