Thour, a well-known Counter-Strike community member, has raised an issue that worries many players - the ability to hide the weapon model of other players in the game. On his Twitter page, he suggested that CS2 developers add an option that would allow players to disable the display of visual models of other players' weapons, similar to the existing function of customizing sights.
This idea came amidst growing dissatisfaction among players with visual "noise" that can be distracting and impair the gaming experience, especially when extravagant or unusual weapon models appear on the screen. As an example, Thour posted a screenshot where a weapon with a non-standard look stands out against the background of serious and tactical gameplay.
I would like the CS2 devs to give us the option to disable seeing other players' viewmodels. Similar to the "Show Player Crosshairs" setting, please add a "Show Player Viewmodels" setting. Some viewmodels are very distracting and unpleasant to look at.

The issue of visuals in games is not new, but with the rise of customization in titles like Counter-Strike, where details can affect the outcome of matches, the community is increasingly expressing a desire to have more control over what they see while playing.
This is not only a matter of aesthetics, but also of efficiency: complex weapon models can not only be distracting, but also hide important game elements, such as enemies or important game objects. The request from Thour has raised an important discussion about the balance between customization and game balance.
So far, there has been no response from CS2 developers, but the community hopes for a quick response, given the potential positive impact of such changes on the overall perception of the game. Time will tell whether these changes will be implemented and how they will affect the dynamics of CS2.
