NAVI at BLAST Premier: Fall Groups 2024 played Complexity for the last slot at BLAST Premier: Fall Final 2024. In turn, Complexity traveled to BLAST Premier: Fall Showdown 2024 where they will battle for a spot in the finals.
This meeting was the 4th in the last year where Complexity have won twice. Now NAVI has a great opportunity to even the score of the encounter, and later possibly take the lead. Also the match was interesting, because in the last match Complexity almost defeated Spirit, and NAVI lost to Liquid, which meant equal strength.
Details of the encounter
During card selection, an interesting moment occurred when Complexity chose Anubis, who has been in every encounter match. Complexity have a 71% win rate on this map over the last 3 months, while NAVI only has a 25% win rate.
The first map was Anubis, where NAVI had trouble in the beginning and were losing 6-1, but they managed to get back in the game and even took the lead by taking 9 rounds in a row. Complexity then responded with another series of 4 rounds, but it was not enough to win and NAVI won with a close 13-11 score.
The second map was Nuke, NAVI's choice, who showed great play and won the half with a resounding score of 9-3. In the second half NAVI masterfully brought the game to an end and won with a score of 13-6, thus qualifying for the finals.
The best player of the match was Ihor "w0nderful" Zhdanov, who showed great play throughout the tournament and finished the match with a 7.3 rating.
Player reactions
Job done here in Copenhagen. Liquid have kept us on our toes in this group stage, kudos to them. Tomorrow we head to Cologne
To be honest, I was a bit disappointed with my own performance in this tournament, I felt like I was a shadow of myself and didn't play like I usually do. Maybe it's the learning curve, maybe it's the format where you can lose 25 times and still qualify. Either way we qualified and that's all that matters. Cologne remains our priority. Thanks for supporting the #1 ranked team in the world in terms of losses at Liquid with their new lineup.
Future tournaments
The closest matches for the teams will be the meetings at IEM Cologne 2024, where NAVI will kick things off with the main stage and Complexity Play-in. The tournament will start on August 7 and run through 18, with a prize pool of $1,000,000.
Both teams will also likely receive a direct invitation to the RMR tournaments, which are qualifiers for Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024.
