All quarterfinals of Esports World Cup 2024 CS2 in which MOUZ, Virtus Pro and NAVI won are over. The losing teams left the tournament in 5th-8th place and earned $40,000.

The first major tournament of the season takes place in Riyadh with Esports World Cup 2024, which will have a prize pool of $1,000,000. The tournament runs from July 17-21, with 15 teams taking part. From the first stage 7 teams made it to the playoffs, the last 8 teams were selected from the last chance grid through which FURIA came through.

In the match between FURIA and MOUZ, the latter emerged as a tight 2-1 winner. The first map was Nuke, the choice of FURIA, where MOUZ managed to win with a score of 13-7. The second was Mirage, MOUZ's choice, where FURIA managed to take 8 rounds for defense and finished the map with a score of 13-11. Third was Inferno, where MOUZ showed good defense, finishing the half with a smashing score of 9-3 and ending the game with a score of 13-7.

The match between Team Vitality and Virtus Pro, where Virtus Pro won in another tight battle with a score of 2-1. The first map in the game was Mirage, Virtus Pro's choice, which had 3 series of extra rounds. But in the end, Team Vitality won with a score of 22-20. Second was Inferno, Team Vitality's choice, on which they had problems in the second half and could not take a single round for defense, losing the map with a score of 7-13. The last map was Dust 2, where Virtus Pro managed to win with a score of 13-5.

In the last match of the quarterfinals, NAVI played FaZe, reminiscent of the meeting of the legendary PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 final, where NAVI won with a score of 2-1. The first map of the match was Mirage, NAVI's choice, where they showed a good game and eventually won it with a score of 13-10. The second map was Nuke, FaZe's choice, where the teams traded halves finishing both with a score of 7-5 and secured extra rounds on this map. But the extra rounds went less smoothly than the map where NAVI took 4 rounds in a row and won the map 16-12, thus ending the game as well.

Ahead of the match, jL tweeted that they would beat FaZe 2-1 and after the 2-0 win he apologized for it. The community has reacted positively to the situation and are teasing him in the comments.

Ahead of the semi-finals, the bar for the best player in the tournament is held by b1t, who has a rating of 7.7. In second place is Jimpphat with a rating of 7.5. Funny thing is that tomorrow NAVI will play MOUZ, where one of the contenders for the title of the best player of the tournament will be decided.
