NAVI disbanded its CS2 female team, citing stability issues

Ukrainian esports organization NAVI has officially announced the dissolution of its CS2 female team, the NAVI Javelins. According to NAVI, the business model for maintaining a competitive female team in CS2 is “impractical” and makes long-term planning difficult. This decision put an end to their two-year journey, which began in April 2022 with the signing of Polish squad Totalne Gituwy.

The players, who were recently allowed to seek new opportunities, now face an uncertain future. Despite their disbandment, NAVI Javelins leave behind significant achievements, including a victory at the 2022 IESF Women's World Championship and three second-place finishes at ESL Impact tournaments.

A trend in female esports

NAVI's solution is part of a general trend. In recent weeks, ENCE, TSM, Spirit, and Virtus.pro organizations have also disbanded their female teams. This happened after the end of ESL Impact League Season 6, which once again emphasized the difficulties of supporting female teams in the professional arena.

NAVI Javelins legacy

During their existence under the NAVI tag, the Javelins have played with:

  • Victoria “vicu” Yanitskaya
  • Hanna “Hanka” Pudlis
  • Angelika “Angelka” Kozlovska
  • Myleen-Joy “ASTRA” Champlio
  • Marta “D7” Asensio

The team was coached by Adrian “AlcesT” Khyzhak.

Recent roster changes included the addition of ASTRA and D7, who previously played for NIP Impact and GUILD fe, respectively. Their final achievement was reaching the top 4 at the ESL Impact League Season 6 Finals in November 2024.

What's next for NAVI Javelins?

Although the players have not yet announced their future plans, sources suggest that the team will split. NAVI's exit from the CS2 female scene leaves a significant gap, but the legacy of the NAVI Javelins will continue to inspire a new generation of players.

This decision underscores the importance of developing sustainable solutions for female esports, which remains a critical area for the industry to grow.
