After a sensational success at ESL Pro League Season 18, Monte`s roster might just not make it to the IEM Sydney starting in a week. Ukrainian trio Viktor "sdy" Orudjev, Volodymyr "Woro2k" Veletniuk and Sergiy "DemQQ" Demchenko are in the unenviable position of not being able to go to the championship.

Timeline

In mid-June of this year, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine made changes to the travel procedure for Ukrainian players — the Ukrainian official delegation cannot now be sent to tournaments where Russian and Belarusian players are competing. In light of the fact that very few players refused to represent these countries, a number of problems arose on a flat spot.

At the same time, Monte violated the terms of stay abroad during the RMR and the majors, because of which the relevant ministry added Ukrainian players to a special list together with representatives of B8 and IKLA.

However, Monte managed to get to both IEM Cologne and EPL S18 — the players returned to Ukraine almost immediately after the end of the major and apologized to the authorities, and the nicknames Woro2k, sdy and DemQQ were removed from the list.

However, when it seemed that one of the best Ukrainian teams would be able to travel to the championships as before, new troubles appeared on the horizon. The Telegram channel of the organization published a post with a call to help players legally cross the border to participate in IEM Sydney, asking all those who have influence on government agencies, federations or funds to influence the situation.

Commentator and founder of the Ukrainian studio Maincast Vitalii "v1lat" Volochai shed light in his personal Telegram-channel on the situation with Monte and obtaining travel permits for Ukrainian cybersportsmen. The information became known after an appeal to the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine.

I found out what tournaments the federation has approved in the calendar plan for the year. The answer is 1 tournament, the World Championship in Romania. Has the Federation tried to add any other tournaments to the calendar plan? No, it has not tried. Are there any other sports that have commercial tournaments in the calendar? Yes, and there are a lot of them, and the federations update the calendar non-stop so that athletes can travel.

v1lat claims that the federation did not submit any requests regarding Monte and did not make changes to the calendar, and that the UESF staff themselves simply left the country, where they continue to stay.

Due to the fact that IEM Sydney starts in six days, and the road to Sydney in the current realities for Ukrainians takes about three days, the chances of Monte to get to the championship are disappearing in front of our eyes.
