Monte defeated Spirit in the quarterfinals of Thunderpick World Championship 2023 and reached the top 4 of the tournament. The match ended with a score of 2:0.
The Ukrainian team was able to cope with emotions after a painful defeat vs Virtus.pro in the Roobet Cup 2023 final, which ended just 12 hours before the quarterfinals vs Spirit. However, this didn't stop Monte from winning even though their best Anubis map was banned.
It all started with Nuke, where the team was able to get a confident victory with a score of 13:8. Monte had to pick Vertigo, the fourth map in their pool, for their own peak.
Here, everything turned out to be very close, despite the score of 8:4 after the first half. Spirit managed to come back and even led 12:11. However, Monte won five rounds in a row and closed the series.
The best player of the match was Szymon "kRaSnaL" Mrozek, who received a rating of 6.8, showing 26% better form than usual. In addition, the Pole is currently ranked 12th among the best players of the Thunderpick World Championship 2023, with a rating of 6.6.
Monte guaranteed $50,000 in prize money for the 3rd-4th place, which is the third repetition of the record for the organization. They got the same amount at Roobet Cup 2023 and ESL Pro League Season 18. In the semis, Monte will face the winner of Heroic - Virtus.pro matchup.
