Liquid became the first team to reach the Elimination Stage at Perfect World Shanghai Major, defeating FlyQuest 2:1

Team Liquid became the first team to advance to the Elimination Stage of the Perfect World Shanghai Major. They defeated FlyQuest with a score of 2:1.

Liquid were initially considered one of the strongest teams in the tournament and favorites to achieve a 3-0 result to advance to the next stage. However, their path to this result was far from flawless. In the group, they managed to overcome difficulties, come back from 3:9 in a match against Cloud9 and display an unstable game in a BO1 against Wildcard.

Dramatic Start and Confident Finish

In the series against FlyQuest, Team Liquid began with a tough loss on Inferno (5:13). Their attack seemed passive and poorly organized, allowing the Australian team to demonstrate confident defense and dynamic play. FlyQuest used an active style to punish Liquid for mistakes, who clearly couldn't find their rhythm.

On Anubis (13:9), Liquid managed to turn the situation around. They started with strong defense on the less favorable side of the map, actively gathering information and suppressing FlyQuest’s attacks. Justin "jks" Savage played a key role with his stable gameplay. Despite struggles in the attack, winning the pistol round allowed Liquid to maintain their advantage and close the map in their favor.

On Nuke (13:1), the situation changed drastically. FlyQuest couldn't impose a fight on the attacking side, facing Liquid's confident defense. Roland "ultimate" Tomkowiak and Mareks "YEKINDAR" Galinskis literally dismantled the opponent's attacks, leaving FlyQuest with no chance for a comeback.

Why Is This Important?

This success strengthened Liquid's status as one of the strongest teams in the tournament and showcased their ability to overcome difficulties. FlyQuest, on the other hand, demonstrated a high level of play and remained in the race for the elimination stage, adding intrigue to upcoming matches.
