Team Liquid became the first team to advance to the Elimination Stage of the Perfect World Shanghai Major. They defeated FlyQuest with a score of 2:1.
Liquid were initially considered one of the strongest teams in the tournament and favorites to achieve a 3-0 result to advance to the next stage. However, their path to this result was far from flawless. In the group, they managed to overcome difficulties, come back from 3:9 in a match against Cloud9 and display an unstable game in a BO1 against Wildcard.

Justin "jks" Savage played a key role with his stable gameplay. Despite struggles in the attack, winning the pistol round allowed Liquid to maintain their advantage and close the map in their favor.
