Launders plans to host a record-breaking LAN tournament in Canada with support from Nouns DAO

Mohan “launders” Govindasamy, a well-known caster and personality in the CS community, is not stopping there. After the success of the first Launders LAN in Toronto, Launders plans to not just repeat the tournament, but take it to the next level.

The interest is fueled by his proposal to the Nouns DAO, with whom he intends to partner with to increase the prize pool and integrate the crypto community into cybersports events. This is the first time such a large-scale tournament in Canada can be supported through the DAO, making it a unique and significant event for both the cybersports and crypto communities.

The success of the first Launders LAN and interest in a sequel

Earlier this year, Launders partnered with the Rivalry platform to organize the first Launders LAN tournament in Toronto, where the Fluffy Aimers team won the top prize of $6,000 CAD. This success inspired Launders to organize a second tournament, which it plans to make even bigger and more significant.

Proposal for Nouns DAO and a possible record deal

Launders has made an official offer to Nouns DAO, requesting $39,125 for title sponsorship of the second Launders LAN tournament. The gist of the proposal is that about half of that amount would be used to increase the prize pool to $25,001, making the tournament a record-breaking prize pool for local LANs in Canada. The rest of the money will be spent on Nouns brand integration, including Nouns x BOXR merchandise, Nouns-themed food and beverage arrangements, and other operating expenses.

The Nouns DAO will begin voting on the proposal tomorrow, September 1, and will need a quorum of 67 votes to pass. If the proposal is approved, it could set a precedent for further collaboration between cybersports events and decentralized autonomous organizations.

Conclusion

Launders' proposal could be an important step in integrating cryptocurrency communities with cybersports. Increasing the prize pool and including Nouns DAO in the event opens up new opportunities for both worlds, setting a precedent for future initiatives. If the vote is successful, Launders LAN 2 could be an event that will be remembered not only as the largest local LAN in Canada, but also as the first tournament supported by a decentralized organization.
