"It Is Very Slow": Professional Players Expressed Their Opinion About Anubis

Not all players consider the map good.

ESL asked the pros about the new map Anubis, which was added to the competitive map pool at the end of last year.

A new map is good

Most players considered the very fact of adding a new map to be a good thing because it refreshes the scene and the meta. The important point is that the map is entirely new. It has never appeared on the pro scene before. Spirit player Boris magixx Vorobiev said this.

I really like the addition of a new map that has not been introduced before in CS because everything is on an equal footing, and everyone needs to learn it.
Boris magixx Vorobiev

Abay Hobbit Khasenov holds a similar opinion.

In my opinion, Anubis is an exciting map, and it's something new.

Adding a new map is a very courageous move by Valve because many other familiar maps were also ready to return to the game. Tuscan and Cache reworks were ended. But the developers decided to take another new map. At first, Valve faced criticism. However, it was a good choice, and players praised the map.

Players love the map

And many players from different teams express compliments on the map's address. For example, BIG's player Karim Krimbo Moussa shared a positive opinion about the map, which Sanzhar neaLan Ishkakov from Evil Geniuses partially supported. However, the captain of the American team believes that CT is more difficult to play.

It's a good map if you play as T, but it's not as fun as CT because the B site is hard to play. Two exits, and one of them is difficult to control.
Sanzhar neaLan Ishkakov

FURIA players also liked the map, which fits the team's style.

We will be playing Anubis a lot, and we have been practicing a lot. This is a simple map. <...> It is good for us.
Yuri yuurih Santos

The most exciting thing in the player survey was that the majority liked the map at such an early stage. For the time after being added to the competitive pool, the map received only one patch that fixed the bugs, and it is already suitable for competitive play. However, not everyone agrees with this opinion.

Anubis is not ready yet

Some professionals believe that the map will receive changes shortly, so there is no point in training it now. This is what Pawel dycha Dycha from ENCE thinks.

I don't like the map. The fact is that they will change the whole map soon. They will change everything. They will update it. <…> I am waiting for the moment when they stabilize the map, and then it can be taught.
Pawel dycha Dycha

Permitta player Rafal sNx Snopek holds the same opinion. And Rasmus Zyphon Nordfoss even talked about what he doesn't like on the map now.

I don't like her because it is very slow. You're always waiting for smoke, and you're always waiting for grenades and everything else. For CT and T, there are not very many options for performance.
Rasmus Zyphon Nordfoss

Zyphon likely means that point A turned out to be very compressed due to only one output, so the map is compressed a lot.

Despite the criticism, most players liked the map, as evidenced by the Play-In IEM Katowice statistics. Although the map was played six times as part of the stage, we wrote about it here.
