"I'll do well in the A anchor role on Mirage. Just don't leave me to jump on B" - malbsMd on his new roles in G2

"I'll do well in the A anchor role on Mirage. Just don't leave me to jump on B" - malbsMd on his new roles in G2

Earlier this month, G2 surprised the world by announcing the acquisition of Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa, taking the Guatemalan from his previous team M80. A few days later, caster and arena host Mike "DarfMike" Winnick published an interview with the young player, in which he talked about his move to the European team. MalbsMd also shared the details of signing a contract, possible alternatives and what led to his move to G2.

The community immediately noticed a potential role issue between NiKo and malbsMd, as both players are known as major spacers and aggressive rotators on the CT side. MalbsMd noted that he will have to give up some of his roles that he had in M80. He stated that on the CT side he will be playing in an anchor role, which is new to him as the last time he played hard anchor positions in TeamOne was over a year ago.

However, when joining G2, he knew that he would have to give in some roles. TaZ was very candid about his new positions, and malbsMd responded to the coach, "I'm doing fine as an A anchor on Mirage. Just don't leave me to jump to B."

In the interview, malbsMd also talked about the surprise offer from G2 that he received on May 29, right after the game against Heroic. He also mentioned that he had another offer from another top team, but after the offer from G2 came up, he opted to move to a new team.

The interview ended with a few closing remarks. MalbsMd expressed his determination to succeed in the new squad and stated that his goal for his first year in G2 is to win at least two titles. He emphasized that he is not going to expect instant wins at major tournaments like Major and remains realistic in his expectations.

MalbsMd will soon be seen in action at Esports World Cup 2024, which will be his first serious test as a member of G2. This tournament will be a great opportunity to evaluate how the Guatemalan player will handle his new roles and how the team dynamics will change with his arrival. The tournament itself will start on July 17 and will last until July 21.
