G2 managed to surprise everyone by winning at IEM Dallas 2024 with Stewie2K as a stand-in, who had been absent from tier 1 tournaments for two years. This victory was not only significant for him but also for all the team's fans. After all, it was the first trophy of the year.
Bo3: Congratulations on the victory. It was not easy. Two maps. On the last map, you did it. What do you think about this game?
huNter: First of all, thank you. I mean, it's very early to talk about the game. Honestly, I don't know what was going on. I need to review the game and understand what we actually did here in Dallas. But yes, overall I felt very good. Today was a very exhausting game. Vitality is a great team. Every round mattered, honestly, from the start to the end of each map, and we all enjoyed it.
Bo3: Do you think this team with Stew right now, or even this team at this tournament, has the right chemistry for the future? Is it time to start winning at every tournament?
huNter: I mean, it's very, very hard to say. We played, we're standing here with Stew, we played without pressure, not without pressure, but we played with 100% less pressure than if we had our full lineup. And that was the main reason why we first made it through the group stage. And then in the playoffs, when the crowd was behind us all the time, it motivated us, and of course, it was hard for the opponents to play. So yes, it's too early to say something like why we won, whether we can win more in the future, the most important thing is to win today, we will try to enjoy this, and then we'll see.
Bo3: We have to ask, how do you think Stew felt playing in front of his home crowd?
huNter: I think he felt absolutely amazing, it's just a dream come true, I think it was for him and for all of us I thought I was dreaming when we lifted that trophy, and it just seemed like a dream, to play here in America, to have him as a substitute, to win the event at the end, to beat the top 3 teams in the world, like Vitality, Mouz, and FaZe. It's just a crazy story, and I'm very happy to be part of it.
Bo3: Is there anything you want to say to the fans who have supported you throughout the event?
huNter: I just want to say thank you to everyone. I'm so glad we managed to win this tournament, especially in front of an amazing crowd, thank you firstly at the arena, but also to the fans from China, Europe, who support us at every tournament, and I'm sorry that sometimes we don't play very well, but yes, it's not easy for us either, so thank you again, and I hope to see you again.
