HooXi Voices Disappointment Over G2's Run at IEM Chengdu 2024

G2 Esports' captain, Rasmus 'HooXi' Nielsen, has candidly expressed his letdown over their performance at IEM Chengdu 2024, where G2 ended up in the 3-4th place, securing a $20,000 prize. Sharing his thoughts on a personal page, Nielsen didn't mask his dissatisfaction with the event's outcome.

No grand final for us once again. We had our chances but were not sharp enough. Disappointing tournament for me personally as well. Thanks for the support China, incredible!

The Danish leader's reflections came after G2's defeat to MOUZ, which knocked them out of the tournament. The sniper of the team, Ilya 'm0NESY' Osipov, previously commented on their loss with a terse remark about their Overpass game, branding it a 'disgraceful' performance.

The matches at IEM Chengdu, running from April 8th to 14th, feature 16 teams competing for a $250,000 pool, with the winner also earning an invite to IEM Cologne 2024. HooXi, in his statement, showed appreciation for the support they received while in China. "No grand final for us once again. We had our chances but were not sharp enough," he lamented, adding, "Disappointing tournament for me personally as well."

This candid insight from the captain of G2 Esports reveals the pressures and high stakes involved in the competitive world of CS2, where even the teams at the top contend with the fine margins that separate victory from disappointment.
