Seoul-based esports organization Gen.G announced on December 18 the appointment of Jung "peri" Beom-gi as a coach. With his addition, the team’s coaching staff has expanded to three members. Furthermore, peri reunites with his former teammate from WeMade FOX and NUTURN Gaming, Kang "solo" Keun-chul, who is currently the team’s head coach.
peri’s Career
The 33-year-old peri began his esports journey in 2009 in Counter-Strike 1.6. While playing for WeMade FOX, he achieved significant international success, including a victory at WEM 2010, where his team defeated SK Gaming in the finals. In 2010, he was ranked 17th among the best players of the year by HLTV, solidifying his status as one of the top players on the scene.
After transitioning through CSO and CS:GO, peri shifted to VALORANT in 2020. Playing for NUTURN Gaming, which evolved from PROPARTY, he claimed second place at the VCT 2021 Korea Stage 1 Masters, won the VCT 2021 Korea Stage 2, and secured a third-place finish at the international VCT 2021 Stage 2 Masters.
Following the disbandment of NUTURN Gaming in December 2021, peri retired as a player and embarked on a coaching career. He worked with notable Korean teams such as ESportsConnected, On Sla2ers, and Dplus, helping them secure victories at VCK 2023 Split 1 and Split 2, and qualifying for the Ascension tournament.
