G2 became the champions of IEM Cologne 2023, winning the first major tournament after the summer break. None of the teams that underwent roster changes managed to make it to the final, but ENCE secured the second place. How did the other teams perform? We'll provide a summary of the tournament results.
The recently concluded IEM Cologne 2023 was the last of its kind – the next championship in Cologne will be held for Counter-Strike 2. Most of the clubs that opted for roster changes in the summer did so with an eye towards the future and in anticipation of the CS2 major in Stockholm.
Just a step away from the playoffs were NAVI and GamerLegion, both of which had also undergone player replacements. There are some skeptics who don't believe in the future potential of both rosters, but given time, both teams might fully unleash their capabilities.
MOUZ, Monte, FaZe, and Fnatic, who finished in the 9-12th places, haven't entirely found their rhythm yet. However, this quartet of teams showed a commendable performance level against the world's best teams. That said, it's worth acknowledging that the departure of their coach did affect FaZe. Only time will tell if he'll be a suitable replacement for RobbaN and if he can return the European squad to the top of the rankings.
