In the upper bracket quarterfinal of the CCT Online Finals 5, an intriguing match took place between G2, considered one of the strongest teams in the professional scene, and Sprout. With Sprout having sold their main star Igor "w0nderful" Zhdanov to Natus Vincere, many expected an easy victory for G2, but the match proved challenging for the favorites.
The first map, Mirage, ended with a score of 3:13 in favor of Sprout, where G2's captain Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen showed a less than stellar performance, having a 2.3 rating, 0-14 K/D, and 15 ADR. On Overpass, a map G2 hadn't played in over three years, they won the first half 11:1, but the clash went into overtime, where G2 eventually emerged victorious with a score of 16:13. On the third and decisive map, Anubis, G2 secured their advantage by winning with a score of 16:14, thus securing a 2:1 overall match victory.

This match proved a significant test for G2, showcasing their ability to adapt and withstand pressure in critical situations. G2 are now preparing for their next match against the winner of the SAW - Aurora pair, while Sprout will play against Zero Tenacity in the lower bracket of the tournament.
The CCT Online Finals 5 runs from November 30 to December 7. The online tournament has a prize pool of $200,000. Additionally, the CCT Online Finals 5 finalists will proceed to the CCT Global Finals, which will take place in May next year with a prize pool of $500,000.
