Former player of Monte and GODSENT banned for betting against his own team

The Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) has suspended the competition participation of the 18-year-old professional CS:GO player Joel "joel" Holmlund. The official statement was published on the organization's website.

The statement mentioned that joel violated the ESIC Anti-Corruption Code by participating in the BetBoom Playlist. Urbanistic as part of GODSENT. From March 27 to 28 of this year, the Swedish player placed bets on matches, including those where his own team was playing, and eventually, those matches ended with his team’s defeat. He also placed 17 bets on other CS:GO events.

Joel was temporarily suspended from participating in competitions conducted by tournament operators cooperating with ESIC. However, the duration of his ban is not specified at this moment. In May, he was removed from the GODSENT roster.

During the investigation of this incident, ESIC used data from betting companies, IP addresses, and other digital traces, as well as analyzed the player's behavior, records of the bets made, and other informational details. In this work, the organization collaborated with betting operators.
