In his latest interview, one of the directors of FNATIC, Andreas "Samuelsson" Samuelsson, criticized Valve and PGL for starting the open qualifiers for the first major of CS 2 - PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 - so early. He also noted that many players and teams had sent requests to the organizers, but everything was fair.
Samuelsson's main message was that not all players had enough time to recover from their winter holidays, but they already have to play in arguably the most important qualifiers of 2024. The first open qualifiers will start on January 8th.
Furthermore, it's important to remember that both open and closed qualifiers will be held on the ChallengerMode platform, which uses the Akros-Anticheat system. However, if you have ever encountered it, you know that it is practically non-functional.
Moreover, due to the high influx of players, the ChallengerMode platform is likely to constantly freeze, as it did in the previous qualifiers. Regular players should be wished luck and patience, as there will probably be a lot of cheaters, delays, and lags in the qualifiers.
Samuelsson:
Many wrote to PGL & Valve asking them to postpone the qualifiers. It's difficult when no one controls the game. It's a pity that in 2024 Valve doesn't care about people. For example, I haven't been home for more than six months and there's no real vacation on the horizon. Unfortunately, I don't think the situation will improve in 2025, rather the opposite.
Remember that due to changes in their lineup, FNATIC will have to play in the open qualifiers for the first Counter-Strike 2 major - PGL Major Copenhagen 2024.
