Five 'streets won't forget' Counter-Strike players

Throughout history, Counter-Strike has been full of players who have written their names into legend as some of the greatest players of all time.

s1mple, coldzera, GeT_RiGhT, f0rest, NiKo, and NEO all come to mind, but who are the players who haven’t received as much acclaim but have instead written their names into legend due to their cultural impact and how fun they were to watch at their best?

That’s right, in this article we’ll be looking at the ‘streets won’t forget’ Counter-Strike players, the Adel Taarabt’s and John Arne Riise’s of the CS world who we miss seeing on our screens.

Where else could we start our list than the headshot machine himself?

ScreaM is one of the most culturally impactful players at all time, a player whose exploits made him popular amongst not only hardcore fans, but to the most casual of matchmaking silvers as well.

How many times have you heard the infamous line, “They know me for my one-taps?” We bet it’s in the thousands.

In truth, despite being named in HLTV’s top 20 twice in his career, ScreaM was an incredibly limited player. That being said, he had some of the best aim in CS history, and it’s a shame that he’s one of the names that jumped ship when VALORANT released.

2. xms

Sticking with the French scene, we have xms, an entirely unremarkable player who pulled off one of the greatest rounds in CS history.

Another player who switched over to VALORANT, xms spent most of his time at the top level in CS with LDLC and Envy. It was with the latter of those teams that he hit his infamous clip, way back at the European Minor for the PGL Major Krakow 2017.

A five bullet, five headshot, 1v3 ace clutch that saw Envy level the score 10-10 against Kinguin, this round is one of the best we’ve ever seen, and very few rounds in CS history will ever come close to how skilled it is.

NA has never really been blessed with great AWPers, so it says a lot that jdm4 stands out as one of the best in the region’s history.

Being honest, jdm64 was never really a fantastic player, he pulled off some great rounds like this 1v5 against Envy at the ELEAGUE Atlanta Major, but it was no surprise when he eventually lost his place on Liquid as they opted for the rifle firepower of NAF instead.

With all this negativity, you might be wondering why he’s on this list, but that just means you’re unaware of the incredible way that he used to play the game.

Whilst it’s become very fun to laugh about how close certain players sit to their monitors, the opposite was true for for jdm64. The American used to lean right back in his chair, looking more like he was chilling on Minecraft than playing for thousands of dollars.

A legend within the Swedish scene, sadly for dennis, his time with fnatic came after their three Majors wins in CS:GO.

A player who would eventually fall into obscurity towards the end of his playing days, dennis is on this list for being perhaps the greatest pistol round player of all time. A true maverick in those all-important rounds, any round felt winnable if dennis had a pistol in his hands.

    5. MSL

Okay, so the final name on our list comes with one Major caveat: we specifically mean the MSL that appeared at Dreamhack Masters Stockholm 2018.

It was at Stockholm that MSL donned the AWP and somehow managed to make a mockery of prime Astralis, making device look like JUGi and winning the MVP award in the process.

What made it even better is that the tournament was as good as it got for MSL on North, he was benched just weeks later as the North struggled to make an impact at the FACEIT London Major 2018.

Just look at his name, that’s enough to deserve a place on this list.
