Fennel's team captain, Cho Byung-yeon, known professionally as JoXJo, is leaving the Valorant team. This news was made public through a post on the organization's Twitter account.

The post mentions that player Cho "JoXJo" Byung-yeon's contract has ended, and he has decided to part ways with the Fennel organization. The organization also quotes his words before he joined the team, "If I join FENNEL, I will surely win."

Fennel's journey with a new captain in 2023

Indeed, after the arrival of Cho "JoXJo" Byung-yeon as the team captain on December 22, 2022, the team significantly strengthened and managed to win their first and significant tournament VCL Japan: Split 1 2023, where they won over $15,000 and secured a slot for the next VCL Japan: Split 2 2023 tournament.

Fennel began VCL Japan: Split 2 2023 just as they did in Split 1, making it to the playoff stage. However, in the lower bracket final, they lost to the SCARZ team, securing the 3rd place and earning over $5,000. Although the team didn't win the tournament, they faced a worthy opponent who eventually won the tournament and nearly entered into partnerships for the 2024-2025 season.

While the official statement mentions that the captain decided to leave the team on his own, Fennel's coach commented on the situation, stating that they encountered issues with in-game roles and player comfort. Parting ways with Cho "JoXJo" Byung-yeon became one of the options to address these issues.
