FaZe and Complexity continue their journey in the lower bracket, paiN and Imperial exit IEM Rio

During the IEM Rio tournament, two renowned teams, paiN and Imperial, concluded their performance after losing in decisive matches. On one hand, FaZe, who recently showed improvements in their gameplay, managed to advance to the next round, while on the other, Complexity confidently overcame their opponent, securing a spot in the lower bracket.

FaZe's recent success sparked hope for the team's resurgence, yet their performance in Rio was not without challenges. Despite defeating Liquid at the BLAST Fall Final, the start of IEM Rio was tough. Nevertheless, their victory over paiN allowed them to survive in the tournament. Complexity, in turn, handled Imperial and demonstrated confident gameplay, affirming their ambitions in this tournament.

Fight for Survival

FaZe faced paiN in the lower bracket of group A, where the match ended 2-1. FaZe confidently won the first map Dust2, closing the first half with a 10-2 lead. In the second half, paiN tried to gain an advantage and push the game into overtime, but FaZe prevented them from doing so. However, on the second map Mirage, paiN had a strong start leading 5-1. In the second half, paiN continued to dominate with a 12-7 lead, but FaZe did not give up, taking 5 consecutive rounds, forcing overtime, where paiN emerged stronger, winning the map 16-13. On the decisive map Nuke, FaZe pulled ahead after winning an eco round, which was a pivotal moment for their victory.

Imperial, on the other hand, exited the tournament after losing to Complexity. On the first map Dust2, Imperial fought back from a rough start and pushed the game into overtime, but Complexity proved stronger in the overtimes. On the second map Vertigo, Imperial started strong; however, after switching sides, the game turned, yet Imperial managed to secure the game without letting it go to overtime. On the final map Anubis, Complexity showed excellent team play, winning 13-5.

Outcomes and Perspectives

Thus, FaZe and Complexity continue to compete in the tournament, while paiN and Imperial exit IEM Rio. Both teams, despite their losses, can be proud of their performance and for presenting significant competition to more experienced teams. Moving forward, FaZe will meet Liquid, and Complexity will face MOUZ in the lower bracket. It is anticipated that the upcoming matches will become even more intense and exciting, given the fierce competition and the teams' desire to prove themselves.
