FACEIT CS2 Matchmaking Season 2 came to an end last weekend and now Season 3 begins with new changes and updates to enhance the gaming experience. The new season has $100,000 at stake again for participants from EU, NA and SA. The season will run until November 10, and players will be able to check out a host of new features.
One of the major changes is the Elo soft reset. The reset now only affects players with Elo above 2800, which will allow them to better compete and move up in the rankings. Positions on the leaderboard will be maintained, and the changes will allow for a more even distribution of players across tiers.
FACEIT has also introduced new penalties for players leaving matches. If a team member leaves a game and the team loses, the Elo reduction will be halved if you were not in line with the eliminated player. The eliminated player himself will receive 50% less Elo if he wins and will lose twice as much Elo if he loses. This innovation is aimed at reducing early exits from matches.

There have also been changes to the Elo penalties for level 10 players. Penalties are now applied if the difference in Elo in a game exceeds 400 (previously 300). This will allow players with higher Elo to play with friends without significant penalties, making the matching system more flexible and fair.
Finally, the party queue handling has been improved. Party leaders have been given full control over the settings, and regular members can now see the selected settings. The party leadership transfer process has also been simplified, making the organization of games more convenient and clear for all members.
