Predictions for 3-0 Teams

The teams predicted to go 3-0 and advance to the Major without dropping a match are FURIA and paiN. Both teams have shown steady improvement this season and are considered top contenders in this RMR.

FURIA: FURIA had a strong season, reaching the playoffs at multiple events. Most recently, they made it to the semifinals of IEM Rio 2024, where they lost to MOUZ but put up a good fight. With a solid roster and strong team play, they’re likely to make it through the RMR with ease.

paiN: paiN is a young team that has grown steadily over the last year. They recently reached the semifinals at ESL Challenger Katowice and even won the ESL Challenger League in South America, earning a spot in the next ESL Pro League Season 21. Their solid performance on the regional stage and potential on the international scene make them strong candidates to qualify 3-0.

Predictions for 3-1 Teams

Teams expected to finish with a 3-1 record are Imperial, M80, and Liquid.

Imperial: With the addition of sniper Santino "try" Rigal, Imperial has added firepower to their roster. Vinicius "VINI" Figueiredo has shown himself to be a reliable IGL, and the core riflers are also strong. Recently, they reached the playoffs in ESL Pro League Season 20, showcasing their potential. They’re favored to finish 3-1 and qualify.

Liquid: Liquid had a promising start to the season but has struggled recently. Entry fragger Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis and sniper Roland "ultimate" Tomkowiak  haven’t been performing at their best, leading to inconsistent results. However, given their individual skill level, Liquid should still advance, even if they face some challenges.

M80: M80 has faced some roster changes, but they have kept growing stronger. Their performance in the ESL Challenger League North America has been solid, and they made it to the quarterfinals of ESL Pro League Season 20. Their steady improvement makes them likely to qualify with a 3-1 record.

Predictions for 3-2 Teams

The teams likely to qualify with a 3-2 record are RED Canids and Complexity.

RED Canids: This Brazilian team features two legends, Marcelo "coldzera" David and Henrique "HEN1" Teles, who bring experience and skill. They recently won the local CBCS Masters 2024 and performed well at ESL Pro League. Although they may face challenges, their experience should carry them to the Major.

Complexity: Complexity has been inconsistent, but their roster has a lot of talent, especially with Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski, one of the best spacetakers in the game. They reached the playoffs of ESL Pro League but have struggled to maintain top finishes. However, with their experience, Complexity should manage to qualify.

Wildcard (Potential Competitor): Wildcard is another interesting team that could challenge for a Major spot. They have players from both the European and North American scenes, who have shown strong performances in regional events. Although they didn’t perform well at ESL Pro League Season 20, their key players, Love "phzy" Smidebrant and Joshua "JBa" Barutt, are improving.

Teams Likely to Fall Short

Some prominent teams may struggle to qualify, including MIBR and 9z.

  • MIBR hasn’t found consistent success, especially after adding Lucas "Lucaozy" Neves.
  • 9z has struggled throughout the season, particularly in comparison to their performance earlier in the year.

Expert’s Take: xner

We also asked Cole "xner" McHenry, a regional CS expert, to weigh in on the RMR.

MIBR didn't look well after the Lucaozy signing, should we expect another Major miss from them?

For MIBR and Lucaozy I am always high on this team and I have liked how they transitioned Drop to IGLing. Still, I think it is going to be one of his first massive tests as well as their coaching staff to harness Lucaozys aggression to work at a T1 level properly.  He is so good in the domestic T2-T3 scene in BR but I have seen many times that his wild plays get shut down very easy from people that are familiar with his style and prepare for him.

There are two Argentinian teams (BESTIA and KRÜ), what are the odds of the first ever Argentinian side making it to the Major?

Bestia are a mainstay in the RMRs, Noktse’s floor can always get them to the stage to qualify for the RMR but his AWPing ability can't quite get them past the point of making it to the major.  Crucially this roster did look very good in the online stage of Thunderpick but with some of the younger less experienced members I do wonder if they can transfer the success to LAN.  As for KRU I don't think this will be the team that will do any damage at the RMR unfortunately.  Not enough exciting pieces on this roster other than deco  who has always struggled at RMRs when he was with BESTIA.

There will definitely be some big names missing the Major, who will become the biggest dissappointment?

If M80 fail to qualify its gonna be a bit hit to the team and organization, with so many spots barring any upsets I can only see a world where one of MIBR, Imperial, M80, or Wildcard miss out and find themself disappointed.

Will any of the small teams like BOSS or Case make it to the top seven?

I really like BOSS quite a bit being friends with some of the players on that team. I know they are working hard in some of the time off to prepare and expand their map pool, but they are gonna need a special run to make it happen unfortunately. Many teams with orgs have been bootcamping in the EU getting really good team experience because EU teams don't want to scrim the other EU teams at the RMRs. This is gonna hurt their chances as obviously they cant afford big bootcamps for the RMRs.

The last time at least two AME teams reached the Major playoffs was at StarLadder Berlin Major 2019, at PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 we had zero teams from America in top 8, how many should we expect this time?

If we see peak Liquid, FURIA, and Complexity could all be playoff teams. PaiN were 1 bo3 off of making playoffs for cologne and playoffs of PGL Major Copehangan so there is a real chance that many of these 7 teams could make the playoffs for sure.

Who are your seven teams that will reach the Major in the end?

Looking at the match ups I feel like the 7 most likely teams to lock in a spot are:
Liquid, FURIA (3-0)
Complexity, paiN, 9z (3-1)
Wildcard, M80 (3-2)
MIBR lose in TB

Wildcard and MIBR Advance to Perfect World Shanghai Major Without a Single Defeat
