On the eve of the decisive match of Passion UA against GamerLegion in the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024, we spoke with Mikhaylo “Kane” Blagin to learn more about their preparation, mood, and game plans. Despite the opponent's challenging map pool and previous defeats, Passion UA shows ambition and confidence in their abilities.

In an interview for Bo3.gg, the map pools of both teams were discussed, preparation for the veto, GamerLegion's condition after losing to The MongolZ, and even learned about old economic tricks Passion UA used in the game against MIBR. Kane also shared his thoughts on the team's progress, motivation before the match, and the importance of support from new fans.

You and GamerLegion have very similar map pools; they have strong Vertigo and Anubis, making them quite an uncomfortable opponent for Passion UA. Can we expect any surprises in tomorrow's veto?

Indeed, yes, there are some surprises. Obviously, I can't tell you what I mean before the veto.

Currently, you have two consecutive defeats against GamerLegion: in the semi-finals and finals of CCT. Will LAN be a key factor this time?

We are progressing as a team. In our first meeting, we lost to them 0-2; in the second, we took one map, and in the third, I hope we win 2 :). LAN is comfortable for both teams. Actually, we are somewhat similar: two young, ambitious teams that few believed in before the RMR. It will be a good duel.

Earlier in our interview, Kane noted that Passion UA is not even sure they've achieved their main goal at RMR, highlighting ambition and striving for constant progress.

GamerLegion was completely defeated by The MongolZ, but prior to that, had a streak of six consecutive wins at the RMR and the major. How do you assess their state now?

I believe any team can have a bad day, but you need to do everything to prevent it. Before the game with The MongolZ, they were feeling good, so I think not much has changed. The MongolZ is a very strong team. In my pick'em I had them at 3-0. Nothing surprising happened.

lmbt said you used some old economic trick in the match with MIBR, what exactly did he mean?

This trick involves trying to surprise the opponent with a sharp semi-buy round when they expect a full buy with a completely different scenario. We lost a similar round to the team BIG during the RMR, so we decided to use this tip.

fear delivered the game of his life against MIBR, is this the result of preparation for the opponent or the lack of pressure after reaching the major?

Rodion has actually been performing very well for many months before the major, so it was only a matter of time and his physical condition. He started sleeping better and was well-prepared for this game. The pressure remains, as we've gained many new fans, and we really want to support them with a good result and beautiful play. This is our motivation and responsibility.
