ESL uses smart glass during matches.
ESL introduces a new feature at IEM Katowice 2023 - smart glass that separates teams during matches.
The glass was showcased by Vice President of Product Development, Michal Blicharz, who posted a video of the glass being turned off after the ENCE vs paiN match. However, this is not the only scenario for using the glass.
Thanks to @tallvlad and team we have game-connected smart glass in the studio. The moment a round is effectively over, players on one team can see the other team celebrate.

How does the glass work at IEM Katowice?
ESL found an extremely interesting use scenario for the smart glass. While BLAST only made the glass transparent during timeouts and breaks between sides, at IEM Katowice 2023 players from opposing teams can see each other after the end of each round, which can lead to interesting situations.
How does the glass enhance the spectacle of the event?
Since there will be no spectators in the Play-In and group stages, their spectacle greatly decreases compared to the play-off event. However, smart glass is able to rectify the situation to some extent. Now, the teams will be able to see each other when they celebrate a won round or try to reload after a lost round.
What's going on in Play-In IEM Katowice 2023?
The first round of Play-In at IEM Katowice 2023 is almost over. Half of the teams are playing to advance to the main stage, while the other half has fallen to the lower bracket and can leave the event after the next game. All information about the event can be found on its page.
