The first semifinalists of the ESL Challenger Jönköping 2024, which takes place in Sweden, have been announced. The tournament boasts a substantial prize pool of $100,000 and a prestigious slot in the ESL Pro League Season 20.
ENCE became the first semifinalist after defeating MIBR and Complexity in BO1 matches. ENCE had no issues in their first game, although they encountered some difficulties against Complexity in the second game, ultimately winning 13-10 and advancing to the playoffs. They will play against the second place from Group A, which will be contested between TheMongolz and the winner of the Falcons/Party Astronauts matchup.
We prepared for four days, and the difference was immediately noticeable. We began to understand each other better, even though everyone is pushing hard at the end of the season.
Aurora became the second team to reach the semifinals by defeating Falcons and TheMongolz in Group A. While they almost gave away a comeback in the first game, they managed to close out the second game without one. They will face the runner-up of Group B, contested between Complexity and the winner of the MIBR/Alliance pair, in the semifinals.
By making it to the playoffs, they are guaranteed at least $10,000 in prize money, but they will miss out on the chance to compete in the ESL Pro League Season 20. The semifinal matches will start on Sunday, the same day as the grand final, marking the last day of the season and promising high-stakes and exciting gameplay.
