CS:GO player found a new bug to see through smoke

Player found one more feature that can give you a big and unfair advantage.

The Reddit user with the nickname FrostingKey419 shared the bug that allows you to unfairly earn an advantage over your opponent.

The fan found out that he can look through smoke if his teammate is standing in front of him. The player's hitbox cancels the effect of the smoke, so you will be able to see through it. The user mentioned that this bug happens only in some places on the maps.

Does the bug work for everyone?

First of all, we should note that if this weakness was not noticed before, it is rare. Therefore, we tried to repeat this bug on an original game configuration.

The bug does not work on all configurations

The result is that the bug cannot be reproduced on default settings. It likely only occurs on specific configurations with unique settings, and may also depend on the graphics card and drivers. The fan who found the bug has already said that he will soon release his config.

Now we can say that not everyone has the ability to see through the smoke in this way.

How dangerous is this weakness?

In reality, at first glance the bug appears to be insignificant, however this does not mean it does not provide an unfair advantage. With this vulnerability, two players can completely see what is behind smoke and movement behind the smoke becomes immediately visible with the bug.

So even if this bug only works for a very small number of people, it is still very dangerous and can greatly ruin the gaming experience. To use it, you don't even need to use cheats, and it is fully legit.

Will VALVE fix it?

We have information that Valve developers read the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive subreddit, so if the bug is not caused by video card drivers, we can expect a fix in the next update.
