VALVE Releases New CS2 Update with Various Fixes

Valve continues to actively refine Counter-Strike 2 — the game has received another patch, marking the sixth update in just the past ten days. The developers have focused on minor yet crucial changes that impact gameplay comfort and competition stability on the professional scene.

Map Changes

The most significant update affected Mirage. Developers fixed the collision at the top of the ladder hole, where players previously could get stuck or gain an unfair advantage during shootouts. This should reduce the number of contentious moments and enhance the fairness of gameplay situations.

Weapons

The R8 Revolver has received updated geometry and animation scaling. This weapon has always been a topic of discussion within the community due to its awkward use and balance. Valve aims to make it smoother to handle and visually correct, which may increase interest in the R8 during matches.

Subtick System

Special attention was given to the subtick mechanic, which raised many questions among professional players after the release of CS2. Now, the parameter sv_subtick_movement_view_angles sends view angles to the server only along with other subtick events, rather than with every change. This should reduce delays and optimize synchronization between the client and server.

Optimization

Valve also enabled Vulkan defragmentation, which will help reduce the load during texture streaming. For players with less powerful PCs, this could mean a more stable FPS and fewer drops during critical moments of the game.

This update marks the sixth consecutive one in just ten days, demonstrating Valve's serious intent to respond promptly to issues. Such a frequent patch schedule is a rare occurrence, even for CS2, which is undergoing an active refinement phase following a major release.
