On November 7, 2024, Valve released a new update for Counter-Strike 2, which touched upon important aspects of the game, including gameplay, animations, matchmaking, and maps. The developers have been working on optimization, bug fixes, and improving the player experience, especially on the Ancient map.
Gameplay: more accurate shots and bug fixes
This update has made important changes to the feedback system for hits. In particular, the problem when lag compensation incorrectly calculated the position of the hitbox during prolonged shooting was fixed. In addition, players will no longer slip when jumping on sloping surfaces, and a bug that allowed them to disarm C4 at any height has been fixed.
Animation: smoother movements and traffic savings
Thanks to an update to the inverse kinematics (IK) logic, the position of the feet of third-person players has been improved, especially on slopes. Fixed an issue where the player's legs and feet would “jump out of position” when the bomb placement animation was completed. Also, the use of network resources associated with animations has been reduced, which will improve the stability of the game.
Matchmaking: more information for playing during peak times
Valve has added new statistics for players trying to find a match during off-peak times. This update will provide more data on the quality of matchmaking and help players find matches even during periods of low activity.
Other changes: Armory Pass and rewards
Changes have also been made to the Armory Pass: now the first Armory Credit is not automatically granted, all 40 credits can be earned by playing and gaining experience.
Maps: improvements to Ancient, Office, Nuke, and Anubis maps
- Office: fixed problematic geometry in corners that made jumping difficult.
- Ancient: Significant improvements to player movement, including reworking collisions on the stairs to the A-main point and removing a tree on A that was creating a distracting shadow. Fixed lighting and optimized some areas of the map for better performance.
- Nuke: Fixed lighting bugs for players with low graphics settings.
- Anubis: fixed a geometric gap that could affect gameplay.
This update is aimed at improving the stability and usability of the game for players who encounter various aspects that need to be improved. Valve continues to improve Counter-Strike 2 based on feedback from the community and strives to provide the best possible gaming experience.
