Spirit unexpectedly withdrew from participating in the IEM Melbourne 2025. Less than two weeks before the tournament starts, they decided not to take part, and the reason remains unknown.
Complexity will take Spirit's place in the tournament. The American team was not the organizers' first choice but turned out to be the best available option. Previously, ESL offered the slot to G2, FURIA, Astralis, Wildcard, B8, and HEROIC. However, all these teams declined, mainly due to visa issues or a tight schedule.
This is already the second replacement in the IEM Melbourne participant list. Previously, instead of Aurora (formerly Eternal Fire), SAW was invited to the tournament. According to ESL, visas for the tournament have already been obtained by 15 out of 16 teams. Only one player's visa is still pending.
